Counseling - Services
In-Office sessions
To dedicate my full attention and plan sufficient time for each of my clients, a prior appointment is mandatory. No walk-in counseling is offered.
Counseling sessions take place at my office (address details see: ‘Contact‘).
The first, so called Intro-counseling, session is typically dedicated to introduction and familiarization with your person and issue.
As a rule of thumb (but depending on the complexity of the issue) after 5 or 6 sessions most personal issues are resolved.
online sessions
Your life can be busy and your time is valuable. So you might not always be able to come to the office in person.
As alternative to the in-office personal counseling, Online Counseling is offered.
Microsoft Teams is used as the secure messaging tool.
It is not mandatory to install the Microsoft Teams software nor App*.
(*) iOS and Android Mobile Users will need to download the Microsoft Teams App

common questions
Let’s start with what I don’t believe in: in my opinion serious therapy work, with long-term effect, is not about the magic power of crystals, nor talking to your angels or seeing people’s auras etc.
I do believe in bespoke, person-centered (mostly one-to-one) counseling, offering you a ‘Safe Space’ to talk, often in weekly 1 hour-long sessions.
During our sessions, we will work together trying to break down your problems into their separate parts, such as your thoughts, physical feelings and actions.
After that, we will analyze these areas to work out if they’re unrealistic or unhelpful and to determine the effect they have on each other and on you.
In a next step, we will then work out how to change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors.
After working out what you can change, I will ask you to practice these changes in your daily life and we’ll discuss how you got on during the next session.
The eventual aim of therapy is to teach you to apply the skills you have learnt during treatment to your daily life.
Ideally, this should help you to manage your problems and stop them having a negative impact on your life (even after your course of treatment finishes).
A typical session is 60 mins.
The short answer is ‘no’.
Counseling is – in Switzerland – not reimbursed by the (Swiss) medical insurances.
The session frequency can be mutually agreed. Initially a weekly counseling session is the norm followed – provided you feel comfortable and make progress – by a bi-weekly ‘follow up’ session.
Some people have a busy work schedule, holidays planned which can be taken into account (of course).
Seeing a counselor is all about trust, feeling comfortable and understood. Similar to doctors and lawyers, all things said and done remain confidential.
However, there are a few of exemptions to this confidentiality rule:
- When acts of terrorism are planned (I have to inform the authorities)
- When I (as a counselor) suspect a psychological disease (I will advice you to see a psychiatrist)
- When actual physical abuse was used and someone’s life is in immediate danger (I have to inform the authorities)

It’s hard to say, without knowing your issue in detail.
As a rule of thumb, but depending on the complexity of your issue(s), after 5 or 6 counseling sessions, most issues are resolved.
A Psychiatrist studied medicine and prescribes and monitors medications to control symptoms.
A Counselor (like myself) offers professional support in decision-making and change processes.
